Dr. Itano is a highly specialized hepatologist with decades of experience in liver disease treatment, particularly liver cancer. Since joining Kurume University’s Second Department of Internal Medicine in 1986, he has dedicated his career to interventional radiology and hepatic oncology. In 2011, he founded Itano Clinic, a liver disease specialty clinic, before transitioning to his current role as Chairman and Director of Kurume Central Hospital in 2015. Dr. Itano remains deeply committed to extending the lives of liver cancer patients and improving their quality of life through advanced interventional therapies. He personally oversees the treatment and follow-up of over 150 patients, including those with advanced liver cancer requiring regular angiographic procedures. With a strong focus on specialized care, he continues to accept complex cases from other institutions, striving to push the boundaries of hepatic oncology and contribute to society through his lifelong dedication to liver cancer treatment.

  • 1986: Graduated from Kurume University School of Medicine and joined the Second Department of Internal Medicine at Kurume University.
  • 1986–1992: Completed clinical training at affiliated hospitals and served for 1 year and 4 months at an advanced emergency and critical care center.
  • 1992: Joined the Angiography Group of the Second Department of Internal Medicine, specializing in interventional treatments for liver cancer.
  • 2011: Established Itano Clinic, a specialized liver disease clinic in Kurume City.
  • 2015: Closed Itano Clinic and assumed the role of Chairman and Director of Kurume Central Hospital.
  • 2015–Present: Continues to specialize in the treatment of liver diseases, particularly liver cancer, overseeing more than 150 patients, including those requiring advanced interventional procedures. Accepts and treats complex cases referred from other institutions, with a strong commitment to improving patient survival rates and quality of life.
